The challenge
The district had been running on a custom Microsoft Access system for two decades. It was tuned to every aspect of their business and mostly reliable — but the company that built it had closed its doors.
That left the district exposed: an aging platform with no vendor behind it, no path to modern capabilities for staff, and nothing to offer their own customers online.
What we built
This was a true legacy upgrade. One of our founding partners was a seasoned Access developer in the early 2000s, so the original system's structure was familiar territory. To make sure nothing was missed, we used a private, custom language model to analyze both the front end and back end in full alongside our development team.
We then rebuilt the solution as a modern platform, preserving the workflows the district depended on while adding the capabilities an enterprise-class system is expected to have.
Capabilities
- Accounts, turnout orders, billing, and headgate management
- Secure remote access
- iPhone and Android integration
- Data archiving and rollback
- Integrated backups
- Reporting, certificates, and rate management
The outcome
The district now runs a top-tier system built specifically for them — and they own it outright. To make sure they are never dependent on a single vendor again, support is arranged through both our internal team and local desktop-support companies, so two separate organizations can maintain the system at any time.
